382 kg of hashish destroyed in western Misurata

07

Anti-Narcotics Department destroyed large quantities of hashish estimated at 382 kg in the presence of the prosecution and judicial experts body and Joint Security Room.

The quantity of hashish was caught at Dufan checkpoint and the driver of the car, who was carrying it, was detained for further investigation.

Crimes of drugs and alcohol have mounted over the period between 2011 and 2016 after the security vacuum in the country as there is no unified deterrent body that can prevent the smuggling of those substances into Libya.

Mainly, hashish comes into Libya via the snuggling routes in the south and east with much of it coming from Egypt.
