Aqilah Saleh: CBL and Libyan Foreign Bank must not deal with Presidential Council

07

The Speaker of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives, Aqilah Saleh, said the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) and the Libyan Foreign Bank must immediately stop dealing with the Presidential Council of the UN-brokered Government of National Accord (GNA).

In a letter sent to the two banks, Saleh warned of not obeying his orders and asked the parallel CBL in Al-Bayda to send a copy of his letter to all the banks in the country.

A very wide chasm now separates the political views of both the UN-backed Presidential Council, headed by Fayez Al-Serraj, and the House of Representatives, headed by Aqilah Saleh, who lately chaired a session for the HoR and voted with the members to reject the GNA cabinet.

The Presidential Council’s Head, Fayez Al-Serraj, said he proposed to reshuffle the cabinet so that the HoR can grant it confidence this time, however; Aqilah Saleh rejected the move and denied giving the Presidential Council any deadline to do so.
