Eastern military governor puts women travel ban on hold

The member of the civil societies commission of the eastern government of Abdullah Al-Thinni, Abeer Amenina, said the military governor of the east, Abdelrazik Al-Nadori, decided to freeze the travel ban on women under 60, which he ordered days ago.

According to Amenina’s Facebook page, Al-Nadori met with her and her female colleagues on Tuesday, when they protested against the ban on women travelling solo and asked him to give a permission for a protest for women against the ban.

“however, Al-Nadori told us that he has frozen the ban on women and that he will reconsider it for further deliberations.” Amenina added on Wednesday.

She added that the protest for women rights must take place for their voice to be heard on a wider scale after they managed to convince the military governor to put the ban on hold.
