The deputy interior minister of the UN-brokered government, Faraj Egayem, denied dispute with the Khalifa Haftar-led general command.

The deputy minister said in a video posted on social media that he is still receiving instructions from Operation Dignity Room led by Abdelsalam Al-Hassi.

This was the first appearance on media for Egayem after being appointed a deputy interior minister.

“My ministry is still cooperating with the army and military units in Benghazi to devise a security plan for the city.” He explained.

He also said that the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Serraj and he had agreed earlier to raise the salaries of the police personnel by 50%.

Al-Serraj appointed Faraj Egaiem as deputy interior minister in August this year and the appointment was rejected by Khalifa Haftar saying it was a violation of sovereignty.
