HoR members call for immediate release of Libyan former PM Zidan

Kidnapped: Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has been taken from his hotel in Tripoli [Daily Mail]
Members of Libya’s House of Representatives have demanded the “immediate release of former Prime Minister Ali Zidan without restrictions or preconditions.

In a statement Wednesday, the HoR members stressed the importance of having the Presidential Council release Zidan, condemning the practices of kidnapping, detention and enforced disappearance.

The statement accused “an armed patrol” of taking Zidan to an unknown location from a hotel in the capital Tripoli on Sunday.

This was the second time that Zidan had been kidnapped from a hotel after he was forced out of Tripoli’s Corinthia Hotel at gunpoint in October 2013.
