Ronaldo shrugs off leaving Real Madrid

Manchester United have registered their interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo but fear being used as a bargaining chip in a game of power at Real Madrid.

United have made contact with the Spanish club and Ronaldo’s camp over a stunning return to Old Trafford for the world player of the year.

But they will only go all out with a bid for arguably the game’s biggest superstar if they are convinced he really does want to join them.

Stories have been leaked by Ronaldo’s people over the past week which claim he wants out of Real and has no intention of playing for them again.

It has also emerged that United would be his only destination if he decides to swap La Liga for the Premier League this summer.

But to no great surprise, sources in Spain now suggest Ronaldo’s position is softening and that he is starting to come round to the idea of staying at the Bernabeu.
