According to Tripoli Health Ministry , the rocket attack of Tuesday night that hit a beach in Tripoli killed five people, including at least one child and one woman, and wounded at least 25 others.

The random shelling on Tuesday hit the beach in front of Mitiga airport in the east of the Libyan capital, the ministry statement confirmed.

An interior ministry source said there were clashes Tuesday inside the airport perimeter between security forces and an “outlawed” group, without specifying the prompt of the clashes and who the outlawed group is.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, however could not say whether the attack on the civilians was intentional, according to a report by Agence-France Presse.

Earlier sources said that the rocket was fired by two warring armed groups from Souq Al-Jumuwa, an area controlling Mitiga airport and overlooking many beaches where many Libyans are flocking to escape the power outages and rising temperatures.
