Libyan authorities intercepted a van laden with 3000 turtles at the checkpoint of Kharoba, Marij town in eastern Libya.

The security patrol told the press that the turtles were coming from Benghazi and off to Tobruk in order to ultimately be smuggled to Egypt.

Libya’s natural resources have always been subject to smuggling including oil and other substances, but this time the smugglers found another item to sell to neighboring countries due to lawlessness that has prevailed over the last few years.
