160 Gambian nationals deported from Libyan jails with IOM’s assistance
160 Gambians, who were arrested in Libyan jails, were repatriated on Thursday night to the small West African nation through the support of the International Organization for Migration, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.
Libya has become a hub for illegal immigrants coming from all over the African continent, whose nationals make every day an extremely perilous journey through the Libyan coast wishing to reach Italy and then spread to EU countries.
Gambian is among the top 10 nationalities represented in arrivals on Italian shores.
