Aid workers rescue thousands of migrants off Libyan coast on Easter
Thousands of illegal migrants have been rescued from the sea near Libya during one of the busiest weekends of the year for rescue workers, according to reports of different agencies.
Over 2,000 people were saved on Friday and 3,000 on Saturday, the Italian Coast Guard said.
Also, at least seven people drowned, including an eight-year-old child, as aid workers struggled to save more than 1,500 migrants in one operation.
