Al-Serraj visits Algeria days after Haftar left in search for support

The Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-brokered Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Serraj, said he had visited Algeria to discuss a number of issues with the Algerian officials so that both countries can boost the cooperation in those joint interest matters.

Al-Serraj arrived in Algeria on Sunday and told the press he would discuss finding a “positive” solution to the Libyan crisis.

Algeria has been hosting different Libyan officials from all three rival governments and other political parties and military factions for months in a bid to broker a solution to the Libyan political standoff.

Earlier last week, Khalifa Haftar and before him Aqilah Saleh visited Algeria looking for support for their faction from the neighbouring country.
