HoR member accuses Italy of shooting down Haftar’s helicopter, Italian Embassy finds it ridiculous

The Italian Embassy in Libya has expressed bewilderment about the accusations of the House of Representatives’ member Ibrahim Al-Zaghid, who accused Italy of downing an mi-35 helicopter in Hun, central Libya on Friday.

Al-Zaghid accused Italy on Libya Channel TV of shooting down the helicopter from off the shores of Sirte using a frigate docking in the waters there.

“Such accusations are farce and irresponsible as well as nonsensical.” The Italian Embassy in Tripoli commented.

On FRiday, The Benghazi Defence Brigades claimed the shooting down of a helicopter for Operation Dignity in Hun town as it was attacking the gatherings of their fighters in the area. Three pilots were killed in the downing.

In retaliation, the Operation Dignity spokesman, Ahmed Al-Mesmari vowed to bomb Hun town and its Wahat hotel on the pretext of being a harbour to Benghazi Defence Brigades fighters and ammunition.
