A delegation of mayors of municipal councils of eastern region of Libya visited Geneva to “request unfreezing of Libyan financial assets”.

The delegation was led by Ms. Fawziyah el-Ferjani, the “director of international relations at the office of the military governor of Derna – Ben Jawwad region”, Maj Gen al-Nadhuri.

These mayors in the delegation are unelected, they are appointed by the military governor replacing elected mayors. A court in al-Bayda ruled few weeks ago, that the position of the military governor has no legal basis, i.e. illegal, and hence all his decisions are illegal, he and his appointed mayors still act & take decisions.
