Misurata municipality says it is still operational despite overnight coup

The Municipality of Misurata has issued a statement saying that it is operating normally in the city, adding that shutting down the municipal council by protesters using force is an act of chaos.
Last night, a number of Misurata residents broke into a local radio and announced they had shut down the current municipality as it is making its own decisions against the will of the city’s residents, indicating that they would form a steering committee to operate in the municipal council.
“We are against imposing any opinion or viewpoint by force.” The municipality said in a statement.
The municipality also added that those violations will be treated as per the laws.
