Benghazi Defence Brigades to hand over Al-Jufra airbase to GNA’s General Staff

The Benghazi Defence Brigades (BDB) have announced in a statement on Saturday that they are going to hand over the airbase of Al-Jufra city to the General Staff of the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA).
The BDB added in the statement that their forces have gone back to their positions in the camps as a result of this new decision.
The statement added that this new step aims at making room for reconciliation and peace in the eastern region.
The handing over of the strategically located Al-Jufra airbase will be essential to maintaining control over the Libya’s southern hinterland — a main supply route for anti-Haftar forces in the area.
