GNA’s Foreign Minister discusses defeat of ISIS in the US
The Foreign Minister of the Government of National Accord, Mohammed Sayala discussed last Wednesday and Thursday the reasons behind the outbreak of ISIS militants in Libya, saying they mainly used the political vacuum and the division in the state institutions as a means to reach their aims in Libya.
Sayala said at the Ministerial Meeting for the Prime Ministers of the International Anti-Terrorism Coalition in the US that ISIS militants are not welcome in the Libyan Muslim society and now they are being defeated in Sirte awaiting their final blow in the coming days.
He also called on the coalition countries to double up their efforts in fighting the radical groups of ISIS and uprooting them from all of the countries including Libya, saying that the world has to support the UN-brokered GNA and assist it in order to rebuild Libya’s institutions, especially the security and military ones.
Sayala conducted a handful of meetings with US officials on the margins of the meeting and discussed with them the boosting of relations between Libya and the US in all levels, renewing the call for supporting the GNA in order to improve the situation in Libya.
