Kremlin: Russian weapons development kept under wraps
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has indicated that Russia maintains strict secrecy around its current weapons development programmes, speaking to journalist Pavel Zarubin.
When asked about the recently revealed Oreshnik missile system, Peskov said: “I am sure that neither of us is even aware right now of any new future developments.”
His comments follow President Vladimir Putin’s November 21 statement about Russia’s first combat use of the Oreshnik non-nuclear intermediate-range ballistic missile. Putin said the deployment came in response to what he described as US and UK-made missile strikes on Russian border regions.
According to Putin’s statement, the missile targeted a defence industry facility in Dnipro. He warned that western nations could face consequences if tensions escalated further.
