Libyans commemorate 40th anniversary of April 7th uprising against Gaddafi

Libyans celebrate Thursday the 40th anniversary of April 7th uprising against the oppressing regime of the he dictator Muamar Gaddafi, which took place in Benghazi and Tripoli universities back in 1976.

Students from both universities went out in rage against Gaddafi’s unjust ruling calling for justice and freedom, in the first confrontation between the Libyan people and the dictator’s militias and loyalists.

On that occasion, Gaddafi’s militias cracked down the peaceful protests of students and arrested most of them, then Gaddafi ordered that all of those who protested be hanged and executed in public.

Some were hanged in the university arena, others were killed while protesting, and some others were arrested, tortured and then shot dead, in one of Gaddafi’s brutal acts against his own people.
