Total blackout added to western Libyan region’s misery

GECOL said on Friday that its teams are trying to restore the power to all cities.

A total blackout descended on the western region in Libya from Ras Ajdair to Sirte in central Libya, said the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) on Friday.

GECOL reported an immense demand on power with the soaring heat degrees in the western region and across the country.

Heat degrees reached above 40 °C in most cities in Libya and almost hit 45 °C in southern Libya, where also many districts suffered from the blackout.

The black out varied from lasting for 15 hours to 20 hours in different cities and districts in the western region.

GECOL said on Friday that its teams are trying to restore the power to all cities, citing the gravity of the situation and heat wave.
