Al-Serraj urges Libyans to unite in support of Sirte battle

The Head of the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Fayez Al-Serraj, urged Libyans to rally around the battle against ISIS terrorists in Sirte, so that “we all get the edge of this uniting initiative that can bring us all together against the real enemy.” He said.
“We bless the victories of our sons on the front line in the fight to liberate Sirte and cleanse it” of IS, he said in a televised statement released on the Facebook page of the GNA on Tuesday.
Diplomats hope the move will shore up the UN-backed administration led by prime minister-designate Fayez Al-Serraj, who on Tuesday said advances by pro-government fighters in Sirte should be a model for “a national initiative to fight terrorism”.
