Libyan researcher, jailed on terror chargers in Italy, acquitted
An Italian appeals court in Palermo acquitted a Libyan university researcher accused of inciting people to commit terror crimes, on Thursday.
Kadija Al-Shabbi,a researcher of economic in the University of Benghazi, was arrested two years ago and sentenced to one year and eight months in jail. The judge at the time described her as “a dangerous subject and sympathizer with the jihadi phenomenon”.
The 47-year-old Libyan woman was acquitted because “there was no crime”, the appeals court said, according to the Italian news agency Ansa.
