“Tripoli LIA” rebuts Malta-based LIA recognition claims
The Tripoli-based Libyan Investment Authority has issued a statement, of which Libyan News received a copy, to refute the claims of the Malta-based LIA that it had gained international recognition.
The statement goes:
In a press release issued on Friday 18 March, the Malta-based parallel ‘LIA’ claimed that the English High Court had “confirmed the continued operations of the [parallel] LIA from Malta” and “noted that the House of Representatives and its government based in Tobruk have been acknowledged as legitimate by the British Government and have achieved international recognition”.
This is simply untrue – and a wilful and regrettable misrepresentation of Hon. Mr Justice Blair’s judgment.
