Joint meeting held to advance talks on Libya’s sovereign appointments

House of Representatives and High Council of State move forward on sovereign posts

Delegates from Libya’s House of Representatives and the High Council of State met on Sunday to continue discussions on the process of appointing and unifying holders of the country’s sovereign positions, according to an official statement.

The meeting was attended by Dr Abdullah Juwan, Dr Al-Ajeeli Abu Sdeil, Mona Koukleh, and Othman Abed Madhkoor from the High Council of State, along with Adnan Al-Shaab and Al-Mahdi Al-Aour representing the House of Representatives.

Officials said the talks were a follow-up to a previous meeting in Benghazi, focused on finalising the mechanism for naming candidates to key state roles, in line with the political roadmap aimed at supporting dialogue and institutional coordination.

During the session, participants discussed final details and possible procedures to conclude the file in a way that maintains national interest and strengthens state institutions.

Both sides agreed to continue coordination between the two councils to ensure the implementation of outcomes from recent discussions and to advance efforts towards greater institutional unity.
