Interior ministry orders inquiry into aircraft incident

Libya’s acting interior minister has ordered the formation of an investigation committee to examine the circumstances surrounding a fatal aircraft crash, according to a statement sent to Libyan Express.
The committee has been tasked with following all aspects of the incident and coordinating with Turkish security and judicial authorities. It is expected to submit its findings once its work is completed.
Turkish authorities have also opened an investigation into the crash of a private aircraft carrying Libya’s Chief of the General Staff, Mohamed Al-Haddad, after the wreckage was found south of Ankara.
Turkey’s Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, said the aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Esenboğa Airport on a flight to Tripoli. Prosecutors have been assigned to investigate the incident.
Libyan authorities confirmed that Al-Haddad was killed in the crash along with four accompanying officials. The cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed.
