Trabelsi: Gharyan embodies Libya’s culture and spirit of peace

The Acting Minister of Interior in Libya’s Government of National Unity, Imad Trabelsi, has described the city of Gharyan as a symbol of culture and a cradle of peace in the country.
His remarks came during a Ramadan iftar gathering attended by Gharyan Municipality Mayor Nasser Al-Brini, alongside a number of security and military officials, as well as community elders, local dignitaries and representatives of the city’s residents, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior on Friday evening.
Trabelsi stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between security institutions and local social components, noting that such collaboration plays a vital role in supporting stability and reinforcing public safety.
He said that meetings of this kind reflect the spirit of national unity and solidarity among Libyans, emphasising that the ministry is keen to maintain direct communication with local communities in order to better understand their needs and preserve security.
The minister also noted that the meeting in Gharyan was not the first of its kind, pointing out that he had previously held similar discussions with municipal officials in several cities and regions across the mountain areas, the coast and the south of the country.
Trabelsi further underlined the importance of supporting the Gharyan Security Directorate, describing it as a central pillar of security work in the eastern mountain region and calling for unified backing to strengthen its role in maintaining stability.
