Tripoli hosts regional military intelligence conference

Tripoli hosted on Monday the opening of the 2026 Conference of Military Intelligence Chiefs from Sahel and Mediterranean countries, attended by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.

In his opening remarks, Dbeibah said the conference comes at a critical time in light of recent international developments, describing it as an important platform to assess current security challenges and strengthen coordination between regional intelligence agencies.

He stressed that regional security is a shared responsibility that cannot be achieved by individual countries acting alone, underlining the importance of enhancing intelligence cooperation, improving the timely exchange of information, and building trust between national security institutions.

Dbeibah also warned of the growing threat of terrorism in the Sahel and across parts of Africa, noting that such groups continue to exploit security gaps and ongoing conflicts in the region.

He added that the challenges facing the region require moving beyond discussion to practical implementation, calling for the development of effective joint mechanisms to address shared threats.

Dbeibah expressed confidence that the conference, which brings together senior intelligence officials and experts, will contribute to strengthening security cooperation and promoting stability across the region.
