Dbeibah meets Misurata’s leading figures to advance stability agenda

Talks with Misurata figures highlight renewed focus on economic control and unity

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, held talks on Wednesday with a group of senior elders and dignitaries from the city of Misurata, focusing on recent national developments and the priorities for the next phase.

The meeting brought together a number of prominent figures, including former head of the Misurata Local Council, Khalifa Al-Zwawi; Chairman of the Misurata Council of Elders, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Rajoubi; member of the Transitional Council, Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Ghashir; and Deputy Head of the Council of Elders, Sheikh Abdul Salam Karim.

Also in attendance was Mustafa Abofanas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio.

Discussions centred on progress achieved under the unified development agreement, particularly efforts to regulate public spending and curb parallel expenditure, measures seen as key to strengthening economic stability and safeguarding the value of the Libyan dinar.

Participants further stressed the importance of reinforcing national unity and supporting consensus-driven political processes, underlining the need for coordinated efforts to ensure stability and advance the country’s broader national interests.
