Libya election roadmap among topics in Koury-Russia talks

Election roadmap, security and economic developments take centre stage in talks between the UN and Russia on Libya

UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs Stephanie Koury met on Monday with Aidar Aganin, Russia’s ambassador to Libya, to discuss recent political, economic and security developments in the country.

According to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, the meeting addressed the outcomes of the structured dialogue process and progress achieved by the small working group tasked with resolving obstacles that have delayed the implementation of the first two steps of the UN-facilitated roadmap.

The roadmap is intended to support efforts towards holding national elections in Libya. The two sides also exchanged views on a number of issues related to the current situation in the country, UNSMIL said.
