Lufthansa and ITA explore Mitiga return
A joint delegation from Germany’s Lufthansa and Italy’s ITA Airways has visited Mitiga International Airport to assess its operational readiness and discuss air links between Libya and Europe.
Airport Director-General Lotfi Nashnoush received the delegation, which toured passenger facilities and reviewed operational capabilities and services.
The visitors also held talks with airport officials on technical, operational, safety and security requirements for international flights.
According to Libya’s Civil Aviation Authority, the two-day assessment is intended to support preparations for ITA Airways to resume services from Mitiga.
Airport officials said the discussions also covered potential air connections linking Libya with Italy and Germany. No timetable for new or resumed flights was announced.
