African criminal gang dismantled in Libya

Nigerian flag used as cover for criminal gang’s ‘Shadow Court’ in Libya

The Internal Security Service has successfully dismantled an African criminal gang that targeted members of its own community through kidnapping, torture and extortion operations.

According to an official statement released by the service, the criminal organisation had established an elaborate façade by renting a property and displaying the Nigerian flag as camouflage.

Inside this compound, they had created an illegal detention facility and established their own unauthorised judicial system, complete with self-appointed police officers and judges.

The security operation resulted in the successful liberation of multiple victims and the arrest of several gang members. Authorities confirmed that investigations are currently underway to locate and apprehend the remaining members of the criminal network.

In its statement, the Internal Security Service called upon the international community to take responsibility for addressing the consequences of illegal immigration.

The service also issued an appeal to property owners throughout Libya to thoroughly verify the identities of potential tenants before finalising rental agreements.

Additionally, the security body has requested that Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs establish communication with relevant embassies to monitor and regulate the activities of their national communities residing within Libyan territory.
