AFRICOM conducts joint air control exercise with Libya

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced it has completed a joint training exercise with Libyan military air controllers near the city of Sirte on 26 February. The exercise featured two B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers.
In an official statement, AFRICOM emphasised that this collaborative drill “demonstrates Libyan military unity and underscores Washington’s commitment to cooperation with international partners”.
According to AFRICOM, the operation forms part of broader efforts to enhance the reunification of Libya’s military and security institutions.
The command further noted that such missions “enable international partners to maintain a high state of readiness”, ultimately strengthening capabilities to address shared security challenges and mutual defence objectives.
