Aqilah Saleh: High Council of State wants to carry out a coup on the legitimate HoR

The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqilah Saleh, considered the statement, made by the Chairman and members of the High Council of State (HCS) on Wednesday, an attempt to carry out a coup on the sole legitimate authority in Libya – the HoR.

“The HoR is the only legitimacy there is in Libya as per article 10 of the political agreement signed by the members of the HCS themselves .” Saleh indicated.

Saleh added that such a statement threatens to plunge the country into more chaos and escalation of political and military conflicts as well as it puts an end to the dialogue itself.

“We call on all parties to ignore such statements and we call on the Presidential Council to also ignore it and to sever ties with those who wrote it. Moreover, we also call on the UNSMIL and the countries who are sponsoring the Libyan political dialogue to have a clear stance from the violation made by this statement.”
