Belqasim Haftar-led fund dismisses Tunisia talks

The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, headed by Belqasim Haftar, son of military commander Khalifa Haftar, has rejected the outcomes of the economic track discussions held in Tunisia, describing them as non-binding and lacking genuine national representation.
In a statement, the fund said the results of the Economic Track Committee meeting in Tunisia do not represent eastern and southern Libya and therefore cannot be considered binding. It added that any political or economic process that does not reflect balanced and inclusive representation would not be taken into account.
The fund reaffirmed what it described as its legal legitimacy, stressing its full commitment to Libya’s applicable laws and regulations, and its intention to continue operating in accordance with its mandate, independent of political divisions or competing tracks.
It also underscored its ongoing implementation of development and strategic projects across various Libyan cities, as part of a broader national vision centred on comprehensive reconstruction and sustainable development.
The fund said its priority remains advancing reconstruction efforts, supporting economic growth, and contributing to stability across the country.
