Brega reports normal fuel distribution amid public congestion

Brega says daily allocations delivered without delay

Brega Oil Company has moved to reassure the public that fuel distribution across Libya is continuing without interruption, insisting that filling stations are receiving their daily allocations according to the approved supply plan.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said its inspection teams carried out a field tour in Tripoli earlier in the day, visiting both Brega-operated stations and privately run outlets. The visits, it said, confirmed that operations were running smoothly and that sufficient fuel stocks were available for motorists.

Brega urged citizens not to be swayed by rumours or to rush unnecessarily to petrol stations, warning that such behaviour could create artificial shortages. It stressed that oversight mechanisms are in place to keep supplies steady in all regions.

The company’s assurances come at a time of mounting frustration among motorists, with long queues reported in several parts of Tripoli and in other cities. The scenes have revived memories of previous fuel crises, prompting concerns over possible disruptions.

Despite the official statements, residents in some areas told local media that a number of filling stations remain closed or are receiving less fuel than usual. The discrepancy between the company’s claims and the public’s experience has added to the uncertainty, leaving many wondering whether the supply issues are temporary – or a sign of deeper problems in the distribution chain.
