Co-chairs back efforts for Libya agreement

Co-chairs of Berlin Process security group commend efforts toward GNU–RADA agreement, urge calm

GNU and RADA talks welcomed as Berlin Process calls for calm and restraint

The co-chairs of the Berlin Process Security Working Group praised ongoing efforts to reach an agreement between Libya’s Government of National Unity and the Deterrence Apparatus for Combating Organised Crime and Terrorism, urging a peaceful resolution of outstanding issues and a time-bound, concrete implementation of any accord.

In a statement, the co-chairs called on all sides to exercise calm and restraint to avoid any violence or harm to civilians.

The announcement followed a meeting on Thursday of the Security Working Group’s co-chair ambassadors — the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the African Union, France, Italy, Türkiye and the United Kingdom — held in the presence of the Chief of General Staff and head of the Truce Committee, an adviser to the President of the Presidential Council, and a representative of the Security and Military Arrangements Committee.
