The eastern Civil Register Bureau announced that it is going to separate from the main administration in Tripoli in reactions to the dismissal of its Director, Muhammed Abu Bakir by the National Salvation Government.

Director Abu Bakir was fired from position at the beginning of 2016 over corruption and counterfeit charges.

The eastern Civil Register Bureau posted a footage that confirms the separation and abstains from using the National Identification Number project that operates from Tripoli.

The Civil Register Bureau added that it will found a parallel ID project in Al-Bayda-based Al-Thani government of Tobruk parliament, which then will allow the eastern region to issue new National Identification numbers for citizens.
