Egypt and France discuss Libyan crisis on the phone
During a phone call on Thursday, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed the latest political updates on Libya with French foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault.
According to a foreign ministry statement, Shoukry briefed Ayrault on Egypt’s latest meeting to coordinate with different political powers in Libya, and asserted the need for a political solution to the crisis to restore stability.
The statement added that Ayrault asserted that the solution to the ongoing conflict should be in the hands of Libyans.
On the other hand, Shoukry praised the efforts of the eastern so-called National Army of Khalifa Haftar in regaining control over strategic areas known for having oil wells, which, according to Shoukry, will result in benefits for the Libyan people.
