UN, EU back Tekala’s presidency win

The European Union Mission has congratulated the newly elected leadership of the High Council of State and the election of Mohamed Tekala, noting the recognition of the outcome by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
In a statement, the EU Mission echoed UNSMIL’s call for constructive engagement to strengthen internal consensus and enable the Council to perform its role within the institutional framework, with the aim of overcoming the political deadlock.
The Mission reiterated its strong support for a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process, facilitated by the United Nations.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Libyan people’s aspirations for peace, unity, and good governance.
