Sources from Tripoli reported heavy fighting and fire exchange using heavy and light arms on Sunday dawn in different areas inside the capital.

The sources, who asked to remain unidentified, said the clashes between armed forces were heard in Abu Sitta Navy Base, where the Presidential Council is located, as well as in Zawiyat Al-Dahmani area next to the Sixth Brigade HQ.

There were also heavy clashes near Al-Mahari (Radison Blu) hotel area, near the Eye Hospital in Zawiyat Al-Dahmani, and other neighbourhoods in the capital.

Meanwhile, since the Friday coup of the General National Congress on the legitimate institutions in Tripoli, heavy presence of armed groups was seen all over the capital’s neighbourhoods.
