The field hospital in Sirte reported five fighters from the Misurata-led forces as killed and others injured in Tuesday clashes with IS militants in the seaside Jizah neighbourhood.

The Libyan forces of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous operation, appointed by the Presidential Council to liberate Sirte, have advanced on all frontlines in the Jizah area and have now trapped IS remaining militants in less than 500 km area.

The Government of National Accord’s Presidential Council appointed the Operation Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous in last May to fight IS out of Sirte and eradicate their terror threat from the whole region.

Since then, IS has lost all of its positions in the city, which it controlled early in 2015, and has now been cornered in some parts of the Jizah neighbourhood in the city.

No official numbers as to how many IS militants were killed in the 6 month-long fight were published yet, however, in comparison the official number of the killed Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous fighters exceeded 300, according to media outlets.
