Gharyan municipality denies arresting Operation Dignity fighters’ cell in the city
The municipality of Gharyan denied the rumors that spread on social media and media outlets that its security department had captured a sleeper cell of fighters linked to Khalifa Haftar’s Operation Dignity in eastern Libya.
The Head of the media office of the Gharyan municipality, Hamid Al-Nuwaisri, told Ean Libya that the news about the arrest of the cell is untrue.
“We have no information about this issue and we have only heard it and read on the news, media and social media.” Al-Nuwaisri added.
Rumors leaked on social media saying that one police officer and an elder from Gharyan as well as a number of February revolution’s opposition persons were arrested as part of a pro-Haftar cell and they were planning to destabilize the city’s security.
