Haftar denies preparing for a meeting with Al-Serraj
The media office of Khalifa Haftar in eastern Libya has denied that there is any meeting being prepared in Cairo or elsewhere between Haftar and the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Serraj.
“Those are rumors, Haftar won’t meet with Al-Serraj neither in Egypt nor in any other country.” The media office said on Sunday.
High-profile Egyptian sources reported last week that Cairo will host a meeting between the leader of the Operation Dignity, Khalifa Haftar, and the Prime Minister of the UN-backed
Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Serraj.
According to the sources, meeting was intended to try to build bridges between the two parties and will aim at finding a solution for the Libyan political crisis.
