Libyan News

Clashes have erupted between the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) forces, led by Ibrahim Jodran, and IS armed groups as the latter are trying hard to take hold of Ben Jawad town near Al-Sidra oil port, Ean Libya newspaper reported.

Sources from the city said heavy clashes have been heard around the oil crescent towns as the fight gets accentuated between the guards and the IS militants.

Al-Sidra port, which remains under the control of the PFG forces, has been closed for over a year as a result of the latest Libyan civil war between different warring factions. IS has seized some territory around the central coastal town of Sirte, but has not been able to gain control of the oil facilities.
