IS car bomb attack injures three at eastern Sirte checkpoint
A car bomb attack rocked the 90 checkpoint in eastern Sirte, Libya, on Saturday, reported sources on local media.
The sources added that the attack left three security personnel injured at the checkpoint from a brigade of Khalifa Haftar’s Operation Dignity forces.
Sirte Military Operation Chamber said in a statement that a car bomb early in the morning on Saturday targeted Brigade 165 of the chamber in checkpoint 90, destroying two cars and wounding one soldier.
The chamber stressed that the armed forces are continually combing and securing the area, according to the statement.
The operation chamber was formed by the so-called army, led by General Khalifa Haftar, in early 2016 to “fight against IS affiliates controlling the city at the time.”
Local media also reported that the injuries were mild and the attacker killed himself in the bombing as he blew himself up at the checkpoint.
