IS militants control Wadi Al-Ahmar near Sirte

According to reports from Sirte, IS militants have seized control of an about 100-km area to the east of Sirte – Wadi Al-Ahmar and have set up checkpoints and started detaining residents in the area already.

Sources from the area reported to local media in Libya that IS arrived last Friday in the area after a successful attack on Al-Noufiliya checkpoint killing at least two and wounding over 7 Operation Dignity fighters.

The new appearance of IS militants comes as there have been many attacks in the area around Sirte and Bani Walid as well as Jufra.

No official response by neither eastern or Government of National Accord authorities about the latest IS moves in the country.
