Khoury calls for unity and speed in implementing Libya’s UN roadmap

Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, held a meeting on Wednesday with members of the “Al-Irada” bloc in the High Council of State, including Abdelaziz Al-Huraibi, to discuss the latest developments in Libya’s political process.
The discussions focused on the importance of moving forward with the United Nations-facilitated roadmap in an inclusive and constructive manner. Both sides reviewed the progress achieved so far in the roadmap’s two foundational steps, as well as the recommendations recently issued by the Council’s Roadmap Committee.
Khoury underscored the need for constructive participation and swift progress in implementing the roadmap, given the pressing challenges facing Libya and its people. She also emphasised the pivotal role of the High Council of State in addressing these challenges within the framework of the UN-led process.
The Deputy Special Representative reiterated the United Nations’ continued commitment to supporting Libyan-led and Libyan-owned efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that meets the aspirations of all Libyans.
