Lawyer refutes Hannibal Gaddafi release claims

The solicitor representing Hannibal Gaddafi has firmly denied reports concerning his client’s freedom, contradicting statements made by the Justice Ministry of Libya’s parallel government.

On Tuesday, the Ministry posted an announcement on Facebook claiming Gaddafi—detained in Lebanon since 2015—had been released. The post was later removed without explanation.

The withdrawn statement offered no details about how the alleged release occurred or what would follow, though it highlighted the Ministry’s purported efforts to uphold legal standards and humanitarian protections for the son of Libya’s former ruler.

Lebanese authorities have yet to comment on the matter.
