Libya and Egypt review cooperation in energy, infrastructure and security

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed bilateral cooperation and developments in Libya’s political process during a meeting in the Egyptian city of Alamein.

The talks covered infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, security cooperation, and institutional capacity-building, according to the media office of Libya’s Government of National Unity.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and General Intelligence Service chief Hassan Rashad.

Dbeibah and El-Sisi also reviewed political developments in Libya and discussed efforts to support stability, advance the political process, preserve the country’s unity, and strengthen state institutions.

The two sides stressed the importance of creating conditions that could help complete the political process and bring Libya’s extended transitional period to an end, the government’s media office said.

They also discussed maintaining consultation and coordination on issues of mutual concern, including matters affecting the security and stability of Libya and Egypt.
