Libya and Turkey discuss new deal to ease visa rules
Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) has held talks with Turkish officials to draft a memorandum of understanding aimed at addressing challenges faced by Libyans in Turkey, including patients, students, tourists and business people.
The discussions took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tripoli, where Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa met Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Münir Karaloğlu and his delegation.
Senior Libyan officials from consular affairs, medical services, immigration and international cooperation departments also attended the meeting.
Both sides agreed to work with Libya’s health and academic attaché in Turkey to resolve issues affecting patients and students. The agreement includes closer coordination with the Libyan consulate in Istanbul to monitor the welfare of Libyan residents.
Officials emphasised the importance of finalising the agreement, which would comprehensively address residence permits and visa matters, streamlining procedures for all parties involved.
