Libya in talks with Europe on gas transport and crude exports

Libya has opened discussions with several European countries over potential cooperation on natural gas transport and crude oil exports to Europe, a government source in the capital has told Libyan Express.

The talks involve Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, and come as part of a wider push by the Government of National Unity to strengthen Libya’s position within Europe’s evolving energy supply network.

According to the source, discussions are focused on improving logistical routes for Libyan hydrocarbons, including frameworks for transporting natural gas and facilitating smoother crude oil flows to European markets.

The move reflects Libya’s strategic geographic position on the Mediterranean and its significant, yet underutilised, gas reserves, which have drawn renewed European interest amid ongoing efforts to diversify energy supplies.
